The Inn on Maple Street Bed & Breakfast

It's worth comparing the difference between hotels and our B&B in what's typically included in the cost of an overnight stay. Although every B&B is different, most of the extra charges you'd encounter at a hotel are free at The Inn on Maple Street.

Telephone Charges

Hotel: Many hotels charge 50 or 75 cents for a local or toll-free call; long-distance rates are astronomical.
The Inn on Maple Street:
Local and toll calls are free; we ask that guests use a calling card for international calls.

Breakfast

Hotel: At a luxury hotel, breakfast costs $7-$30 dollars per person; moderately priced motels often offer a free self-serve breakfast with disposable plates & cutlery.
The Inn on Maple Street:
We offer a free full home baked breakfast selection. Our three course includes fresh fruit, baked goodies fresh from the oven and a hot entree. Other selections we offer are hot and cold cereals, granola bars, hard boiled eggs, assorted yogurts and juices. Beverages include coffee, 20 varieties of tea and flavors of hot chocolate. We do offer soy milk and non-dairy creamers. Your breakfast is served to you on elegant china, with linen napkins and tablecloths. If you like we will light the table candles for you.

Room Service

Hotel: Room service meals (with added service & delivery charges) are usually double or triple the cost of eating in a local coffee shop or restaurant.
The Inn on Maple Street:
Although we don't offer regular room service, we will deliver our Morning Breakfast Basket to your room by special request and there’s no extra charge. We invite you to have a lunch or dinner meal from our local restaurants to be delivered to you. Please use the inn's common area or our dining room.

Mini-Bar

Hotel: Mini-bars are stocked with tempting treats, from candies to potato chips to soda to little packets of aspirin. While convenient, prices are usually double or triple their costs in a nearby convenience store.
The Inn on Maple Street:
Coffee and tea makings are always available in our Dining Room. Fresh fruit, snacks, candy and often home made cookies are for your refreshments. Hard candies and bottled water are in each guest room and the suites. These treats are free for you to enjoy.

Concierge

Hotel: Concierge services are usually available only at luxury hotels; tips are appropriate and encouraged.
The Inn on Maple Street:
We are generally willing and able to provide services, i.e. restaurant reservations, advice on the best locations for shopping, antiquing, hiking, and so on. Just let us know what you have in mind.

Amenities

Hotel: Extras like movies and faxes can quickly add $10-$20 to your bill. Internet connectivity is charged daily for use, as much as $20 per day.
The Inn on Maple Street:
We have a video library that you are welcome to use for free. Our cable TV has free HBO. We can typically send a 2-3 page fax for you for free, or at a modest cost. The Inn is set with Wi-Fi High Speed Internet wireless and there’s never a charge for use.

Bellman

Hotel: Although travelers are often forced to lug their luggage from bus to airport to bus to car unassisted, hotel bellmen are apparently instructed to assume that travelers are incapable of carrying their bags a short distance from the curb to the reception desk to their room. While the assistance may be welcome, the constant tipping can be onerous.
The Inn on Maple Street:
The "bellman" at The Inn on Maple Street is likely to be Jay, the innkeeper, or one of our sons. We are happy to assist you with luggage, but please lend a hand with your personal bags or a valued item. If you can't carry heavy things, don't be shy about asking for our help.

Parking

Hotel: Many hotels charge $15-$20 (or more) a day for valet parking; the free or reduced rate parking may be a good walk from the lobby.
The Inn on Maple Street:
We have on street parking which is free at our B&B. Your vehicle is right in front of our home.

In conclusion, The Inn on Maple Street is often a far better value than a hotel with the same room rate. If you place a value on all the "free" benefits included in the cost of your stay at our bed & breakfast inn, you'll be surprised how much you're really getting. Give us a call and book your reservation today!
